Whistleblower protections for government contractors
What the bill does
This bill expands whistleblower protections for employees of companies that contract with the federal government. It prevents government officials from ordering contractors to retaliate against workers who report waste, fraud, abuse, or safety dangers. The bill also says workers cannot be forced to give up these protections through arbitration agreements.
The stakes
People who work for government contractors could report problems without fear of losing their jobs. This affects millions of workers at companies that do business with the Defense Department and other federal agencies.
