That figure is PAC money and nothing else. Money people give a campaign directly, and money outside groups spend for or against a candidate, are not counted anywhere in this file. In these same records both of those are larger than the figure above.

Disclosed means it is in public campaign-finance records. It is not a claim about why anyone voted.

4 seats have no member in these records: CA-14, FL-20, GA-13 and TX-23. The figures below cover 531 of the 535 seats the 50 states hold.

A further 14 members across 13 states have no PAC money on file for this cycle, so nothing is counted for any of them.

About the industry labels: the industry named for a state is the one that sits at the top of more of its members' filings than any other. It is not the industry with the most dollars behind it. Donors whose industry is not labelled in these records are left out of that count, and they are the largest single block of this money, so the labels are a rough guide rather than a full picture.

The District of Columbia and the five territories are not in this file. Each sends one delegate who cannot vote on final passage of a bill, so their seats are not part of the count above.

Money leaves a paper trail. This monthly file keeps that trail visible without pretending the filings say more than they do.
