Every profile here starts with a form the law requires. Each year, members of Congress, the President, and other covered officials must disclose what they own and owe. They file these financial disclosures with the House Clerk, the Senate, or the Office of Government Ethics.

These forms don’t list exact dollar amounts. Instead, each asset or liability falls into a bracket, such as $50,001 to $100,000. So the net worth figure shown here is the midpoint of that bracket, not a bank statement. We track this across years wherever the filings allow it, which is why some officials show a full trend line and others show only a single snapshot, from whenever they first had to file.

Use the filters to narrow the list by chamber, party, or state, or search a name if you already know who you want. We add new officials as their forms arrive, and no ranking is edited to look better before it updates. Every profile links to the source filing, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it. If a number looks odd, the filing is usually why, not an error on our end.

None of this implies that wealth is wrong. Many officials were well off long before they ran for office. Disclosure laws exist so voters don’t have to guess what a public official owns.
